Bay Avenue Gallery is unique on the Long Beach Peninsula in that it carries only local artists and offers weekly classes and open studio time. We opened April 2010 with 12 artists. Today we have 50 artists that include a dozen mediums, with works of many sizes and price ranges. You will find us in Ocean Park turning toward the ocean (west) at the stop on Bay Avenue. Our gallery and new studio building, 1406 Bay Avenue, are third from the turn on the south side of the street.
The gallery’s goal is to exhibit unique works by the artists. We pride ourselves that there is always something going on at the gallery. This is a place that is usually filled with artists, exciting ideas and creative energy.
Our children’s classes have developed quite a following. Several of the artists are retired teachers and they bring a wealth of ideas and talent ssdfto the students. The adult and family classes are specially designed to meet the needs of the people who attend. We currently have several of clay classes scheduled as well as an ongoing watercolor class. Family classes are designed for a child to work with an adult. These are specially priced to be affordable as we hope to make memories as well as artworks.

$20 each one – 2 hour class then schedule a return to pick up (2 firings)
- Whistle or Ocarina about 4-6 inches
- Animal Rattle about 4-6 inches
- Mini Pumpkin Class about 4-6 inches
- Clay Envelope can be used outside or inside 7 to 10 inches
- Garden Plaque for outside or inside 7 to 10 inches usually message or designed
- Garden Monster Rock- (like paperweight) 4-6 inches
$25 each one 2 hour class or an additional return visit to glaze
then schedule a return to pick up (2 firings)
- Fairy Doors Sculpted levels 7-10 inches
- Fairy Slab House completed 7-10 inches
- Pottery Wheel class – 1 ½ hour individual time with practice and clean up time
- Textured Slab planter completed 7-10 inches
- Mug Class decorated with press molds or individual theme
- Ceramic Tray – textured and designed with themes added feet. 9-12 inches
- Clay Name Plates- 7 X 15 inches individualized
- Garden Mushrooms- handmade set of 2 ( 4 and 6 inches)
- Clay Bell- animal/vegetable/themed – about 7 inches (will be strung after firing)
- Ceramic Windchime- themed using press molds strung 12-14 inches
- Tree Faces at least 4 parts ready to hang
$ 35 each 1 or 2 – 2 hour classes (Can be created and glazed in one if needed)

- Ceramic flowers about the size of a dinner plate must be glazed after first firing

Throw pot or two, experience trimming each, then return for glazing.

Clay Garden Flowers class

BACK IN February
10 AM to 1 PM
$48 each
.Come in to make a unique ceramic garden flower. Day one we make the flowers. Return after they are bisque fired and color them with glaze. The flowers are fired again. They are bright glossy and ready for the tube to be added. The price of $46 includes the clay, glaze, firings and the rebar for posting in your yard. This is a great class and so much fun. Adults only Tuesday from 10-1 PM. Friday 10 AM till 1 PM open studio time to schedule in. Call if you need a special time and we will set it up.
